when i was in 6th grade i went to school on my period & thought it was gonna be a normal day, boy was i wrong. in first period (haha get it) i realized it felt like i was sitting in something watery, for some reason i thought nothing of it, until class ended and i stood up to check. i quickly understood that i leaked through my pants, so when my friend asked what it was i just replied “it’s just kool aid from this morning, i accidentally spilt some on me.” she somehow believed me & i went along my day with a jacket wrapped around my waist. needless to say, it was a VERY uncomfortable school day. when school ended i walked home in defeat & promised myself i would be 10x more careful when i’m on my period. (pro tip, drink water when you’re on your period, it helps with cramps!)

So here’s how it went...

Hi to everyone reading this! I hope your day is going well. Although I don’t have any horror stories, I will share my experience because why not. I got my period relatively early and I truly hated it because I had to miss out on things. I couldn’t go to the beach trip we had planned with other friends, and I couldn’t go on a water park field trip with my friends due to my period. But as time goes on, it has been easier to plan around it and deal with it. It’s sucks to miss things, but you have so many more years to do things so don’t ever feel down about it. I hope this made you feel better! :)

The Stained Chair

A year and a half ago when I was about 12, I was at school doing things I normally do. Nothing seemed wrong about the day and nothing seemed different yet it changed so quickly. I was on my period and like always I had a pad on (since I wasn’t good with tampons then) and I had just changed it. I went back to class and packed up my things to move to my favorite class of the day, science! I walk in take my seat and we were doing a lab activity that day. I set it all up, work all class long, until I notice that my chair looked stained. Except it also didn’t since it blended in with it. Either way I got nervous, tied my jacket around my waist and started panicking. But it just didn’t make sense because I had a pad on and it was like the last day of my period! What seemed like forever passed by and I went on to gym. I go to the bathroom during passing time just to make sure everything was all good when to my surprise there was absolutely no blood! No blood on my pad,my underwear, my pants, absolutely nothing. It was confusing but I just went on to play volleyball until my science teacher came upto me and started asking if I was on my period. She was worried if I stained my pants and had nothing to wrap around so she brought her hoodie, but luckily I didn’t need it. I wanted to tell her it wasn’t me but I just didn’t know and to this day, me being almost 14, I still don’t know what that was about. Was there a possibility I stained the chair? Was it someone else? What happened? But I guess that mystery will forever remain unknown.

My period doesn’t affect me too much; I don’t get cramps or feel irritated. My life generally isn’t any different, and I don’t feel as though getting my period affected my life in any way. I don’t talk about it or think about it much.

Cancun

The week before school started, I was happily invited to go to the Cancun with my cousin, aunt, and uncle! The plane there I felt really uncomfortable but I didn’t really know why. After the whole day at night time I came to the resort in Cancun. When I was going to the bathroom, casually, I saw blood stains everywhere, knowing that I have my period. No it’s not my first time but I had no idea that it was going to come so soon because it was a week early. Right away, I told my aunt to call my mom and I started crying to my mom telling her that I won’t be able to go to the beach in the pool. My aunt was very supportive and she gave me a menstrual disk. I was freaked out and so confused because I was not going to use that and I didn’t. So the whole trip I tried using a tampon and I was truly confused. I thought it was not going to be painful but it was so painful for me the whole trip because it was only halfway in. And no one realized or no one knew for the week!
